Glass Beads & Glass Microspheres: Technical Specifications and Standards
Linghang produces solid glass beads and glass microspheres from 20 to 500 mesh at our factory in Yongqing County, Hebei. Every grade is characterised by refractive index (R.I.), retroreflectivity (RL), particle size distribution and roundness — the four parameters that determine how a bead performs in road marking, grinding, blasting and composites.

Beads for road marking are graded by refractive index: R.I. 1.50 for standard drop-on and premix applications, 1.70–1.90 for high-brightness markings, and above 1.90 for premium wet-night-visibility systems. Roundness matters as much as clarity: under GB/T 24722-2020, No.1 and No.2 beads require at least 80% roundness, and defect beads at medium/high refractive index are capped at 20%.
3. Factory Capability at a Glance
- Raw material control: recycled and virgin glass cullet is inspected for colour, iron content and contamination before melting — iron and opaque particles are the main cause of low retroreflectivity.
- Batch-testable: R.I., RL and particle size distribution are checked per batch, and a test report can accompany each shipment on request.
- Custom grading: non-standard mesh windows and blended gradations can be produced to your coating or blasting specification.
- Export packing: 25 kg bags, 500 kg / 1000 kg jumbo bags, or 25 kg cartons on pallets; container loading plans provided before shipment.
